About

Hello! My name is Charlie Bickham. I am a 17-year-old high schooler in Boulder, Colorado. My parents, Brad and Dana, graduated from CU Boulder and Lehigh University. My mom became a lawyer and my dad runs a financial management company. I have three siblings, Kelsey, Bubba (Ben), and Sam. Kelsey and Bubba are both more than ten years older than me and Sam is three years older, making me the youngest of four. Kelsey is married to Kyle and they have a son together, my nephew, Jackson. My upbringing with the Bickham family was characterized with teasing, arguing, some yelling, and a whole lot of fun. Being the youngest of that many people posed a lot of challenges, but it also allowed me to learn and mature faster than many of my peers. Talking with older people, mainly my dad, was what got me interested in politics and the media. My dad and I would sit and talk for an hour or more about the current state of things, we would argue, joke, and discuss, and I learned a ton. I eventually decided I wanted to carry the same weight in these discussions as my dad, so I did my research on the subjects. Eventually, the dinner table became dominated by heated debates between my dad and I. I wanted this to be my life, yet I couldn’t stand the idea of having to please corrupt and evil politicians, or having to uphold the extremely flawed legal system as a lawyer. So I learned there is a profession where I can deal with politics, crime, and the economy, all while exposing corruption and flaws in or political and legal systems: journalism. Suddenly, I knew what I wanted to do. Partisan Games is my first attempt to reach for that goal. With this, I can deliver the beautiful and unbiased news that I want to; I can nurture my writing and media skills; and have something that colleges can see and appreciate. I hope you enjoy, because this blog is the kickstarter to my hopes and dreams.
